Now in its sixth edition, the Marketing-Interactive’s MARKies Awards celebrates innovation, creativity, and efficiency from the best work produced by Singapore’s extended marketing and advertising industry. Among the more prominent award events within the industry, the MARKies hosts attendees from agencies of all sizes and specializations. For those in attendance for the 2022 MARKies, it came as no surprise to see teams of agency representatives celebrating their night’s wins across a total of 44 award categories.
Leaving a Mark at the Markies
Split into a Creative and Media Usage segment, each award is scored according to predefined judging criteria. To win these awards, eligible submissions would have come up top as among the most creative, or effective campaigns. Every award category sees agencies winning either a bronze, silver, or gold for their work – and you can bet that agency folk came dressed and eager to impress at the MARKies.
An Awaited Return to In-person Ceremonies
Held on June 17, 2022 at the Shangri-La Orchard Hotel, this year’s MARKies awards ceremony saw not just healthy interest among eager agency members but also a return to in-person award ceremonies. The idea was certainly thrown around by the event’s sponsors and members of the judging panel alike – with many among them mentioning how nice it felt to finally return to being able to host and attend the event in-person.
Spirit of Celebration
While guests were encouraged to keep their masks on whenever they weren’t dining at their tables, the atmosphere in the ballroom was unmistakably positive, especially with most attendees dressed to the nines and eager to end their work week on a high. Among attendees in the Shangri-La ballroom that night was, of course, our very own members from the Mediatropy Singapore and Hong Kong offices. Of our submissions, Mediatropy was shortlisted for the Most Effective Use – Video category for work we produced for Marriott Bonvoy x La Clique.
Being shortlisted for an award certainly presented the opportunity for our team members to invite and host our clients from Marriott to a Friday night spent together at the gala dinner. But even with no-one among them available to attend that evening, ours was certainly a table filled with revelry and much to celebrate. Among those in attendance were our Executive Creative Director, Darren Lim, General Manager, Sylvain Joandel, and Digital Account Manager, Maggie Tsang, currently visiting from our office in Hong Kong. Apart from sharing in the gala dinner proceedings together, the team was also treated to a four-course dinner that was served up as part of the table hire for the gala event.
As they waited their turn to hear the announcement of the relevant category, our team members certainly found the time and atmosphere to bask in the glow of the dimly-lit ballroom that evening. The spirit of celebration is unavoidably catching, and one could hardly help but feel swept up by the glitz, glamour and unmistakable pride that came with representing one’s agency during such a momentous industry award event.
We Bagged BRONZE
We are proud to announce that we have bagged BRONZE for the Most Effective Use – Video category at the MARKies Awards Singapore 2022 by Marketing Interactive. We are very proud of this achievement, and we want to thank everyone who has contributed to it.
Beyond just honor, the award is a recognition of the effort put in by our team members – hours of hard work behind the scenes to enable the idea to come into fruition. The 2022 MARKies was certainly an eventful night, and we can’t help but feel excited for next year’s. Here’s to a glitzier MARKies next year with greater wins!
